What To Do When You Find Out Your Teen Is Sexually Active

So you find out your teenager is sexually active. What do you do?

Although I taught abstinence and the “sex is for adults” to them from when they were old enough to understand, both of my children became sexually active before they were 18.

My son didn’t tell me; I found out through his sister whose friend he was dating. She told my daughter, my daughter told me. I told my son never to go out without a raincoat. End of story. He already knew this from health class in high school.

Adoption - My Personal Story

Adoption: To Tell the Truth or to Lie?

Forward

This is a person account of adoption written by an adult who was adopted as a child. I am not a counselor or a therapist. This is simply a documentary of my experience and my opinions. I hope that you can glean something from it, maybe learn something, or find it helpful for you and/or your family.

If you are anticipating adopting a child, I think this is a “must-read”. If nothing more, it may bring some questions to mind that you hadn’t yet considered.

What Is It About Fishnet Stockings That Is So Hot?

Fishnet stockings are hot and they evoke different memories and reactions from different people. For myself, I can vividly remember the music videos of Madonna dancing and crawling around in next to nothing and wearing the sexy fishnet stockings. One video I remember in particular was where she was pretending to be an exotic dancer in a peep show!

These days we see the younger generation that is into the gothic and punk movements wearing the black fishnet stockings along with the rest of their black wardrobe and black makeup. Personally, I think that is the only time I have seen fishnet stockings that didn’t look sexy. The stark white faces with makeup that makes someone look dead or like a vampire just doesn’t do it for me.

The Moon In My Rearview Mirror

My beloved grandmother was content to sit on a porch for hours engaged in storytelling, while I struggled to remain still long enough to listen. Deeply aware of the special gift of her healthy and vibrant presence in my life, I promised myself to spend more time with her, listen more attentively, and put my own agenda aside in order to enjoy her company. Caught up in the rhythm of daily life and the intricacies of my youthful self-absorption, romantic woes, building a business and searching for Mr. Right, the years flew by and grandma’s body began to break down. I now find myself missing her hugs, her unconditional adoration and the sound of her laughter with a longing that stings my soul.

The Art Of Organic Jewelry

If gold and silver jewelry is too expensive, then organic jewelry can provide the same decoration for a much cheaper price. Organic jewelry started from the Native Americans by using connecting simple seashells together. Today, organic jewelry has evolved into a major role in the fashion industry. The most popular type of organic jewelry today would be in the form of pearls.

Where do pearls come from? Pearls come from an irritation in an oyster’s shell. The irritation is then covered with calcium carbonate which after many years turns into a pearl. Pearls were first used for jewelry by the Native Americans that first settled the land. Thousands of years later, they are now considered a must-have fashion accessory.

Hematite Jewellery - Why Wear It?

Jewelry is made from almost any element or mineral that can be easily worked and for which people will pay for. Hematite jewelry is no different in that when polished, hematite has a shiny look and is easy to work by the craftsman who make it.

Hematite is a mineral consisting of iron (III) oxide. It is mined in great quantities for the production of iron and many countries. The color of hematite varies from the reddish browns to greys and almost blacks, depending on where they are first mined. When shined it looks almost like metal.
